At TheYardstead.com, we believe your best harvest doesn’t come from 40 acres. It comes from your own backyard.

Started by a small team of backyard gardeners, chicken keepers, and weekend builders in the US, we research and review the raised beds, chicken coops, and shed organizers that homeowners actually put in their yards. Our goal is simple: help you grow more, store smarter, and live better without leaving home.

What we cover

The Yardstead is organized around 12 areas of backyard life: Patio & Deck, Garden & Greenhouse, Chicken & Shed, Grill & Outdoor Kitchen, Dog & Pest Control, Backup Power & Prepper, Composting & Soil Health, Beekeeping, Rainwater & Irrigation, Outdoor Lighting & Security, Fire Pit, Heater & Sauna, and Shed Organization & Workshop. Each guide is written for a specific reader: the new homeowner setting up a patio for the first time, the gardener trying to stretch a small plot, the homesteader raising their first chickens.

Who this is for

Every review starts with the same question: who is this actually for? A raised bed that’s perfect for a small urban backyard may be the wrong pick for someone with a quarter acre and deer pressure. We try to say so, plainly, instead of writing one generic recommendation for everyone.

How we make money

The Yardstead is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission, most often through the Amazon Associates program. This never affects which products we recommend or how we rate them. See our Affiliate Disclosure and How We Review pages for details.
